I just finished my last day of school before break! Since I now have more time, I borrowed a bunch of movies that are too long to watch during the school year, "scary" movies from which my vacation will hopefully give me time to recuperate, and a couple of shorter films that have just become available to me at my local library! Here's my list:
1917 (2019) directed by Sam Mendes
The Blue Angel (1930) directed by Josef von Sternberg
The Blue Kite (1933) directed by Tian Zhuangzhuang
Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) directed by Blake Edwards
Children of Paradise (1945) directed by Marcel Carné
Fanny and Alexander (1982) directed by Ingmar Bergman
The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) directed by Martin Scorsese
L'avventura (1960) directed by Michelangelo Antonioni
Saving Private Ryan (1998) directed by Steven Spielberg
Seven Samurai (1954) directed by Akira Kurosawa
This is Spinal Tap (1984) directed by Rob Reiner
Tokyo Story (1953) directed by Yasujirō Ozu
Mulan (2020) directed by Niki Caro
Onward (2020) directed by Dan Scanlon
Wings of Desire (1987) directed by Wim Wenders
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) directed by Robert Aldrich
I've already seen "Breakfast at Tiffany's," which I'm watching again for an article that I'm writing about Asians and Asian stereotypes in film. Other than that, however, all of these movies are completely new to me!
