Happy New Year! Here are some updates as we go into 2021:
I recently watched Jules and Jim (1962) directed by François Truffaut, and while the movie wasn't as good as I expected it to be, I loved its soundtrack by Georges Delerue. I've been playing it on repeat, and I would definitely recommend it!
Today is also actor Dana Andrews's birthday. He was in one of my favorite movies, The Best Years of Our Lives (1946), and in Laura (1944) with the beautiful Gene Tierney, which I saw a couple of days ago.
Roberts Blossom was also born today in 1924, who acted in the Christmas classic Home Alone (1990). I actually saw that movie a week ago for the first time.
I spent my last day of 2020 watching Stanley Kramer's Judgment at Nuremberg (1961). This movie happened to be the second in a row that featured Montgomery Clift, the first being A Place in the Sun (1951). The cast of Judgment at Nuremberg was excellent; my favorites were Spencer Tracy as the chief judge of the trial and Judy Garland as a witness. Maximilian Schell, who played the defense counsel, was also superb. Additionally, Judgment at Nuremberg is the first movie I have seen with Marlene Dietrich, although The Blue Angel (1930) is on my to-watch list.
